CURRICULUM GOALS:
Powell County High School is dedicated to encourage and facilitate excellence in the educational programs offered and procedures employed by the students, staff, and administration in order to promote superior achievement. All students are encouraged to explore, discover, develop, and master those skills that will make it possible for them to continue the academic growth, character development and emotional maturity necessary to live a full, rewarding, productive, and satisfying lifestyle. A continuing effort is made to determine and to offer courses, experiences, and opportunities, which serve to foster this educational endeavor.
EDUCATIONAL GOALS: The Powell County High School educational program is dedicated:
To meet the individual student’s needs to develop the skills to think creatively, independently, and critically in order to prepare for continuing education, regardless of whether it is formal education or work experience
To establish effective communication and encourage involvement between school, parents and community
To provide an environment to nurture personal responsibility, citizenship, and trust
To encourage accountability by fulfilling and communicating the educational goals of the school to the Board of Trustees, certified/non-certified staff, and parents
To recognize the benefit of the cultural, social, and physical experiences derived from a wide range of extracurricular activities
To provide a maximum educational opportunity as personnel, facility, and finances will allow.
